The rapid advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning and the incremental integration of AI into nuclear command, control, and communications (NC3) systems signal a new era in military strategy. AI has the potential to revolutionize NC3 systems by processing vast amounts of data quickly and providing decision-makers with real-time strategic recommendations. Advanced algorithms have the potential to enhance decision-making capabilities and early warning systems, support adaptive targeting, and improve response times. While AI offers the possibility to enhance decision-making capabilities and improve response times, it also introduces significant vulnerabilities that could destabilize strategic balances and exacerbate the risks of nuclear conflict.
